Executions for apostasy

A man in Afghanistan is being tried for apostasy and could potentially be executed. I bet he's glad that we got rid of that mean old fanatical Islamist Taliban and brought freedom to Afghanistan.

I like how that article tries to make it out like execution for apostasy is some kind of clerical error, like there was a typo in the 8th century which was read a little too literally in the 20th century, and the whole thing is just a big misunderstanding.

I happened to be flipping through TV on sunday, and noticed Condi on Fox News Sunday trying to put her spin on it. "Well, they've come a long way since the Taliban. They now have a constitution which includes the principles of the Declaration of Human Rights" says Condi. Great. Next: getting them to lend some actual significance to their constitution. Describing how it's a good thing that Iraq's now taken more than 3 months since its elections to form a government was another masterwork in circular logic.
