Ventana Wilderness Alliance Trail Reports

One of the difficulties of backpacking is that the quality of trails can change dramatically from year to year, especially if they're not being actively maintained. Today, I stumbled across the Ventana Wilderness Alliance's Trail Conditions Report: reviews of trail conditions by other backpackers who have seen things for themselves.

I don't want to be one of those people that argue that old school is better than new school (i.e. technology ruins our life). However, I do believe the best part of backpacking is the process of discovery and the decisions you make based on what you actually experience. My most memorable backpacks are the ones where something unexpected happened.
