The Feds and marijuana research

I recently had occasion to read the Marijuana Policy Project's amicus brief in Ashcroft v. Raich. If you ever wondered why the research on the medicinal uses (if any) of marijuana is so spotty, this brief makes it clear: the feds have made it incredibly difficult to do any research on the topic by denying access to the only legal source of cannabis. It's easier to do research on MDMA than it is on cannabis.
