iPod battery life

While we're on the topic of consumer electronic device annoyances, has anyone noticed that their iPod has a really ferocious self-discharge rate? It seems like if I just leave it sitting for 2-3 days when I turn it back on the battery is totally drained. Mega-annoying, since it means that I need to bring the charger with me for even for short trips where I don't use the iPod very much.

Have you tried using the "hold" setting? I was wondering the other day if I was imagining that the battery seemed to last longer when I set the "hold" thing while I was not using the iPod.

Steve has it right: the Hold switch is as close as you can get to turning the thing off . . . .
