Saw 300 last
night. I was just fine with magic and monsters
but one thing tweaked me. In trying to convince
the Spartan council to send reinforcements, the queen says that they
shouldn't let "a king and his men have been wasted to the pages of
history." But of course, the Greeks used scrolls, since codices
weren't available yet.

What, they didn't have comic books in ancient Greece?
They had pages, but not codex books.
Paper was manufactured as separate pages which were assembled into scrolls after being written on.
What the Greeks did not have was a concept of history. Heroditus did not come until several centuries later. History to the extent it existed was an oral tradition.
