Canadian government falls

Paul Martin has just lost a no-confidence motion, which means an election in mid to late January.

For those of us in the US, this is clearly a critical moment. We cannot afford for Canada to become a failed state, with Jouale-speaking, hockey stick-wielding hooligans firing moose-dung across the border into Detroit, let alone the unthinkable: another fishing blockade. And yet with so much of the US military deployed in Iraq, a full-scale invasion and peacekeeping mission is of the question. We may be forced to fall back on.. shudder... diplomacy.

Canada has been a failed state, with Joual-speaking, hockey-stick-wielding hooligans firing moose dung across the border (and at each other) for over a century now. We like it that way. Leave us alone.

What makes you think that firing moose-dung into Detroit will make things in Detroit worse?

I myself am mostly worried about cross-border excursions by Les Assassins des Fauteuils Rollents. The Canadian government is the only thing that stands between us and hearing the squeak.

Actually I'm hoping to interest the new Canadian government in cross-border adventurism. There's a lot of the U.S. left coast that might welcome the RCMP as liberators....
